A Thoughtful Pantry, Rooted in Experience
Clean Living by Judith Raye began long before the first label was printed.
In the early 1980s, I owned a small pizza parlor in Texas. It was there that I first learned how powerful simple ingredients can be. Flour, tomatoes, herbs, and cheese — when handled with care — could become something memorable. I learned how seasoning builds depth, how balance matters, and how food brings people together around a table.
That foundation shaped me.
Over the next twenty years living in Houston, Texas, I was immersed in bold, layered flavors — warm chilies, slow-simmered broths, vibrant spices, and the unmistakable influence of Tex-Mex cooking. My pantry expanded. My understanding of flavor deepened.
But over time, cooking became more than bold flavor. It became intentional.
Home, Hospitality, and Community
When I married a native Idahoan and made Idaho home, my cooking naturally evolved. Instead of restaurant kitchens and city flavors, I found myself preparing meals for family gatherings, welcoming friends from church, and setting long tables filled with good food and good conversation.
Those seasons of hospitality taught me that the best meals begin with simple, quality ingredients. Clean labels, thoughtful seasonings, and balanced flavors became the foundation of every recipe, and ultimately inspired Clean Living by Judith Raye.

Every seasoning blend, finishing salt, and pantry staple reflects decades spent in the kitchen, from a Texas pizza shop in the 1980s to discovering bold Houston flavors and, ultimately, building an Idaho pantry centered on simplicity and care.
